Community in Round Lake, IL

History

Round Lake’s residents can trace their community's roots back to the 1830s when the first settlers arrived in the area. The first settlers were farmers who quickly discovered the need for good travel routes through the area's lakes and prairies. This need spurred the construction of the first homes in Round Lake IL. These homes were farms that were located near the area’s stagecoach trail communities.

Round Lake's role in the Illinois economy changed in the 1890s when the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad extended a branch line from their main line to Janesville, Wis. The line helped Lake County farmers gain easy access to Chicago's markets. It also increased property values when a crafty Round Lake resident offered the railroad free land in exchange for placing a station near Round Lake.

Round Lake is now a small town that boasts several new neighborhoods that offer residents easy access to Chicago-area attractions. This proximity has spurred new interest in Real Estate in Round Lake IL. This interest should continue to make homes located in Round Lake a tremendous value as new residents discover the area's charm and beauty.
